Stiamo aspettando la Befana e la calza piena di cioccolato e caramelle. Nel frattempo, che facciamo? A Babbo Natale qualcuno avrà lasciato biscotti e un bicchiere di latte e alla Befana, niente? Ma insomma, un dolce per lei, è d'obbligo!
Ingredienti :
250g di farina 00
125ml circa di latte tiepido
50g di zucchero
35g di burro fuso
1/2 uovo
1 cucchiaino di zucchero
1/2 cucchiaino di sale
1/2 cubetto di lievito di birra
1/2 bustina di vanillina
Per Spennellare:
1/2 uovo sbattuto
confettini colorati
Procedimento
Sciogliamo il lievito in una parte del latte insieme a un cucchiaino di zucchero. Lo aggiungiamo alla farina e mescoliamo. Quindi uniamo tutti gli altri ingredienti tranne il latte, che metteremo un po' alla volta. Impastiamo finché non si sarà formata la palla che lasceremo lievitare coperta fino al raddoppio di volume (io ho uato un sacchetto di plastica per alimenti). Trascorso il tempo sgonfiamo l'impasto e stendiamolo ad uno spessore di circa 5mm. Ricaviamo le ciambelle con due coppapasta di 8cm e 3cm, copriamo e lasciamo lievitare coperte fino al raddoppio di volume, circa un'ora, quindi le spennelliamo con uovo sbattuto, cospargiamo con i confettini colorati e inforniamo a 180° per circa 25' o comunque, fino a doratura (io ho usato il forno a gas). Sforniamo.

Epiphany Doughnut: Brioche Doughnuts!
We are waiting for Befana and her stocking full og chocolate and candies. In the meantime we make donuts. Children leave Santa Claus cookies and a glass of milk, I think is right to prepare something for Befana:-). In some countries of Italy there are typical Epifany recipes.
Some time ago, I tried some of them, there are pictures on my flickr account: Befanini, cookies with colored sprinkles, sweet focaccia, a big sweet bread with granulated sugar on the surface, brioche buns, soft brioches with raisins in wich there is a dried fava bean, the child that find it, will have so much luck, Pinza della Marantega, a ventian cake made of corn flour and dried fruit. And then, thare are donut! You can make them with potatoes, the fried donut or brioche dough as here. Very soft, ideal for breakfast and as snack for a break!

1/2 cup warm milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 melted butter
1/2 egg
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
0,42 oz fresh yeast
vanilla extract
1 tablespoon rum

Method
Dissolve
yeast in 1/4 cup of warm milk and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix it with
flour, egg, melted butter, salt, rum, add gradually remaining milk and
work until the dough is elastic, then place the dough in the bowl. Cover
with a damp cloth (or with a plastic wrap) and let rise in a warm place
until doubled in volume. Deflate the dough, then roll it into a 1/12in thickness . Cut the dough with a 3in round cutter and make a hole in the centre with a 1,2 in cutter. Cover donuts with a damp cloth (or with a
plastic wrap) , and let rise until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
Brush them with egg, ad sprinkles and
place in the preheated oven to 350°F for 25 minutes or until the rolls
are golden brown.
